Savitur Prasad joined Civil Services in 1983. Presently, he is posted as Secretary - Information Technology, Government of NCT of Delhi. He served in various important assignments both in India and abroad. Some of the important portfolios held were:
* Financial Adviser to Indian High Commissioner and Indian Peace-Keeping Force at Colombo, Sri Lanka
* Addl. Development Commissioner and Director, National Handlooms Development Corporation (Ministry of Textiles, Government of India)
* Chief General Manager (Traffic & Operation)
* Delhi Transport Corporation Financial Adviser and Joint Controller, Border Roads Organization, Government of India
* Director, Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India
Joint Secretary, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India before joining as Secretary - IT in the Government of NCT of Delhi.
Being the Financial Adviser and Chief General Manager (Traffic and Operation) of Delhi Transport Corporation, he brought about conversion of DTC into CNG which changed the entire public transport system of Delhi. As the Director, Ministry of Urban Development, Savitur Prasad formulated Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission (JNURM), streamlined multilateral institutions (like ADB, JBIC, World Bank), investment and techno-financial assistance in the infrastructure sector. He also initiated Carbon Credit in association with World Bank and Clinton Foundation for the urban sectorsss. He was also a part of development of growth-pole strategy concept instead of SEZ and creation of National Fund for Unorganized Sector.
Savitur Prasad has done his graduation in B.A. (Hons.) Economics, M.A. from Delhi University and M.Sc. in Defence Studies from Wellington.
