Aiming to tap into fast-growing infrastructure demand and sustainability needs, Saint-Gobain plans to invest nearly USD 1 billion in the country over the next five years. Saint-Gobain has operated in India for over 40 years, and is eyeing to step up its presence across major infrastructure sectors. These include data centres, airports, metro systems, tunnels, railways, and hospitals. The fresh investment will go into building new manufacturing units, strengthening research and development, improving digital capabilities, and making acquisitions.
A key focus will be on sustainable and low-carbon construction materials, aligning with global climate goals.
The company already generates close to USD 2 billion in annual revenue from its India operations. With this expansion, it aims to further cement its role as a major supplier of energy-efficient building solutions. The move comes at a time when India is seeing rapid growth in infrastructure and urban development, creating strong demand for modern and sustainable construction technologies.
Highlighting the company’s ambitious outlook, CEO Benoit Bazin said, “We double our size in India every five years, and the goal is to triple our size in the next ten years,” Bazin said, adding it will be driven by India’s rapid urbanisation, population growth and infrastructure buildout. “When you combine all this, there will be a lot of growth in residential markets and a lot of growth also in infrastructure.”
