The launch marks the formal start of India’s BRICS chairmanship preparations, highlighting its focus on unity, innovation and sustainable development as the grouping enters its third decade of global cooperation.
India has formally unveiled the logo and official website for its BRICS Presidency 2026, signalling the beginning of preparations for its upcoming leadership of the multilateral grouping. The launch event was held in New Delhi and attended by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, who outlined India’s vision and priorities for the year-long chairship.
The newly revealed logo draws strongly from Indian cultural symbolism while reflecting the collective spirit of BRICS. Inspired by the lotus, India’s national flower, the design features five distinct petals representing the founding members—Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. At the centre, the petals form joined hands in a Namaste gesture, symbolising respect, partnership and shared purpose among diverse nations.
Jaishankar said the visual identity captures the core values of unity in diversity that define the grouping. He added that the logo and branding reflect India’s intent to promote collaboration and inclusive growth across the BRICS framework.
Platform for collaboration and engagement
Alongside the logo, India also launched the official BRICS India website, which will serve as a central digital platform during its presidency. According to Jaishankar, the website will provide timely information on meetings, initiatives and outcomes, while also enhancing transparency and engagement among member states and stakeholders.
He said India’s BRICS chairship aims to “bring together the potential of BRICS countries for greater global welfare,” noting that the presidency comes at a significant juncture as the grouping completes 20 years since its formation. Over the past two decades, BRICS has expanded both its agenda and membership, emerging as a key platform for cooperation among emerging markets and developing economies.
The minister highlighted that BRICS has remained focused on people-centric development, dialogue and practical cooperation, even as it adapts to shifting global realities.
India’s priorities for 2026
Outlining the roadmap for India’s presidency, Jaishankar identified four broad priorities—resilience, innovation, cooperation and sustainability. He said these pillars would guide discussions and initiatives across BRICS’ three core areas: political and security cooperation, economic and financial collaboration, and cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
According to him, the priorities are designed to strengthen institutional capacities, encourage innovation-led growth and promote sustainable development for the benefit of all member nations. India’s chairship, he said, will seek balanced outcomes that reflect shared interests while addressing global challenges facing the developing world.
